We arrived at Villa Kaioa, in Bidart, on Monday afternoon. The villa was easy to find. Adeline, the owner, was waiting for us; she had offered to place an order at the Intermarché supermarket and to go and collect it before we arrived. Everything was waiting for us! No shopping to do, what comfort!
Adeline had got a Gâteau Basque ready to welcome us! How wonderful! There were flowers, candles, wood in the fireplace and the beds were made, and of course the shopping had also been done. We felt as though we were staying with friends.
We talked a little, I told her the reason for my presence in Bidart and my sole plan: to look after myself!
There was a discount voucher for the nearest thalassotherapy centre: Thalmar, as you go into Biarritz. And for Ayurvedic massage: the Ananda practice in Biarritz, which she strongly recommended to me.
Adeline also gave us some information on what was happening in the region during the week, and a few addresses for yoga and restaurants, as well as an organic food shop. To top it all, when I mentioned that I wanted to eat well, she lent me a very interesting “Detox” book.
Finally, for our comfort, she arranged for 2 hours of house cleaning in the middle of the week.
We spent a quiet first evening by the fireside and went to bed early. The programme: rest!
