Bidart, the Basque village on the sea, between Biarritz and Saint-Jean-de-Luz, has retained its authenticity.
White houses with red or green shutters, chapels cherished by the Compostella pilgrims, the market in the
village square on Saturday morning, and typical dishes made using local produce in the restaurants…
The original name « Bide Artean » means “at the meeting of the ways”. It’s a perfect starting point to visit the Basque villages of the interior, to go hiking in the mountains or to go shopping in the towns on the coast.

The Basque Coast enjoys a very pleasant climate all year round. After a mild autumn and winter, the early vspring quickly gives way to a moderate summer with very pleasant temperatures that are rarely very vhigh. The climate is temperate without excessive temperatures, a rapidly changing sky and an especially vagreeable late season with its Indian summers. I really recommend to those who can go on holiday in spring and automn, even in winter to do so !
