Bidart proche Biarritz au Pays Basque
Bidart, the Basque village on the sea, between Biarritz and Saint-Jean-de-Luz, has retained its authenticity.

White houses with red or green shutters, chapels cherished by the Compostella pilgrims, the market in the
village square on Saturday morning, and typical dishes made using local produce in the restaurants…

The original name « Bide Artean » means “at the meeting of the ways”. It’s a perfect starting point to visit the Basque villages of the interior, to go hiking in the mountains or to go shopping in the towns on the coast.

Bidart and the Basque Country, an art of living !

Swim in the ocean waves while looking at the Pyrenean mountains, listen to the deep voices of the male  choirs, get standing up on that surf board, follow in the footsteps of the St. James of Compostella pilgrims, taste a Basque cake, enjoy watching a game of Basque pelote, discover the village fêtes… You are in the Basque Country!

Architectural heritage with remarkable towns and villages, traditional habitats, St. James’ Way…

Cultural heritage with castles, historic characters, the Empress Eugenie, Edmond Rostand, Maurice Ravel, Pierre Loti, and in Bearn, King Henri IV, Gaston Phébus…

The local gastronomy, Bayonne ham, Espelette pimento peppers, Itxassou cherries, Irouléguy wine, chocolate, Basque cake and so much more.

The traditions, the Basque language that is like no other, Basque pelote, strong-man games, the songs, the

And the fêtes: the Bayonne festival, international festivals in Biarritz, traditional village fêtes… shepherds,

cherries, pimento peppers, pottok ponies: in the Basque Country, everything is celebrated.

Countryside, mountains, ocean … and all in the same area, so many different terrains for so many different activities

Water sports: the region is world famous for its surfing; sailing; white water rafting in the mountain
rivers; sea or river fishing. A privileged destination for golf-lovers who relish the vast choice of golf courses within a 40km radius – in the Basque Country, in the south of the Landes and in Spain.

Sporting activities such as tennis, Basque pelote, horse riding… The Basque Country – kingdom of hiking, offers marvellous landscapes, both by the sea and in the  mountains, whether you are on foot, on a bike or on a horse…

All is easily accessible from the villa Kaioa

The Basque Coast enjoys a very pleasant climate all year round. After a mild autumn and winter, the early vspring quickly gives way to a moderate summer with very pleasant temperatures that are rarely very vhigh. The climate is temperate without excessive temperatures, a rapidly changing sky and an especially vagreeable late season with its Indian summers. I really recommend to those who can go on holiday in spring and automn, even in winter to do so !
